A Hashtag to Make More People Smile

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
Desmond Tutu
We might not be able to change the whole world but we can start to make a huge difference by changing today. With all that is going on in the world today; from war to poverty to natural disasters to hate, it is no wonder why so many people expect the worst, live in fear, are cynical, pessimistic and fight to keep the hope alive. I always try to live on the Bright Side of the Life (Let me know in the comments what musical that is from).
In this video I explain exactly what the #365LivingGiving campaign is and what you can do to help.

Here’s the gist:

In my January newsletter I introduced you all to my older son James, who loves to watch the news. He told me about Paris before it happened, the Malaysian airline and most recently how many have died in Nepal. Now I want to introduce you to my younger son Noah who has a lot of fears, which is understandable when all he hears about the riots, the shootings and all the scary things that have been going on while his older brother is watching the news.

I try to reverse some of the effects of the negativity in the news and what surrounds us. I have signs that I put up all over the house “Today might not be a good day but there is good in every day” and “Make the choice to be happy” but the signs in my house are not enough. We need to balance the messages and that is where I need your help.

When you use #365LivingGiving you are sharing a positive story. You are focusing on how people are helping survivors rather then how many we lost. You are noticing and highlighting the random acts of kindness and happy stories of gratitude. You are living the Law of Giving every day of the year. The Law of Giving is about giving because you can and because you want to. We want to put the good things out there without the expectation of getting anything in return. We aren’t going to eliminate the message that there is a need in the world, it is just to balance that message out.

When we hear about good things happening, we are more likely to believe that they will happen and we are more likely to do those things ourselves. Help me spread positivity, gratitude and giving. Be the story, find the story, use #365LivingGiving and together we can show our kids that there is more kindness out there than they thought!
