Do You Have a Cheerleader?

In my get known, get connected, get head talk, I talk about the relationships that you want and need. One of those relationships, whether it is with a mentor, a follower, a champion, a sounding board, a confidant, one of those relationships is a cheerleader. We all need cheerleaders.

I have talked about being your own best friend in one of my previous blogs, Are You Nice To Yourself, but there is nothing better than when it’s truly somebody else telling you they believe in you.

When listening to Dr. Delatorro McNeal it resonated when he talked about, “sometimes you need to believe in the belief other people have in you until your belief kicks in.” I love that, because that’s what a cheerleader is for you. That’s what a coach can be for you. At one time, that’s what my son was for me.

In 2015, right before I walked on my first international stage with my largest audience to date, I was in knots, and I probably looked white as a ghost. My little eight-year-old, at the time, looked up at me and said, “mommy, you’re gonna be great” and that’s what I needed to hear. That was my cheer.

Who is cheering for you? Who is telling you to get out of your head and believe?

A great manager or a connected leader is one who gets more out of you than you believe you had in yourself.

Who are you cheering on and who is cheering you on?
