Which is more important: the journey or the fruit?

Though I am not at all a gardener, this analogy really spoke to me…

Gardening takes a lot of work and time, planting, watering, cultivating the land. And you won’t see the bloom of all that effort for a long time. But most people don’t garden just for the literal fruits of the labor – most often it’s the working in the ground, being outside, and watching something you’ve created slowly grow and change that brings the satisfaction of gardening. The doing is the reward in and of itself, and the fruits and veggies are a bonus.

While I can’t relate to the enjoyment of gardening, I do relate to the idea of the journey being satisfying. I put a lot of effort into writing The Connector’s Advantage – all of my education and experience up until that point led to me writing it. And it was definitely a labor of love. Writing took a lot of time, patience, perseverance, and support from family, friends, and colleagues.

The satisfaction of the writing process is amazing, and you’d think that finishing and seeing the physical manifestation of the effort – my book – would be the bonus. But I have realized the bonus is hearing from people about how the work has impacted them, resonated, and changed the way they think and act. That is beyond a bonus!

So getting it into more people’s hands and heads continues to be the ongoing fruit and I am so excited about several opportunities to do just that. I’ll be telling you more about the book club in the coming weeks, but you can check it out and sign up HERE.

I did a webinar with Soundview recently. Remember when in January my book was the most downloaded that month? Well, they asked me to do a webinar for The Connector’s Advantage.

In this webinar, I’ll show you what it means to be a Connector and how to become one. By looking at common mindsets and techniques of great Connectors, I’ll lay out the exact steps for growing your connections in order to have a more significant impact on yourself, as well as those around you.

You Will Learn…

  • Why relationships and connecting are critical to your results, success, and even happiness.
  • How Connectors have a way of thinking and acting that enables stronger relationships.
  • How ANYONE can infuse these mindsets and behaviors into their interactions and see the impact.”

Sharing your hard work with others is the true joy of the work. I’m so happy to share this with you in this new format and grateful to Soundview for making it happen. Register HERE. I hope you can make it!
