Awhile back, I had this really grand idea about doing monthly themes with my newsletters. At the beginning of 2017 I put the idea into action, and it worked! …for a couple of months.
As Robert Burns said, “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” But is that always such a bad thing?
It’s easy for ideas to drop off your radar or for you to stray from the plan. Sometimes life happens and other priorities take precedent. I had grand ideas of starting my book at the beginning of this year, but my sick child changed that plan – and that was the right change.
When thing get off track, seek to understand the why.
When we understand the “why” it is easier to accept that we are now on a better path or remotivate to get back on track.
As for my newsletter themes, well… I realized that I want to make room for stuff to come up when I am writing, so the themes are going to be a bit looser. My newsletters might not have a theme every month, but there are some good ones coming up.
Entrepreneurship: This theme has newsletters about the likability scale, growing your business, and toying with the idea of raising your prices.
Sharpening The Saw: Toward the end of the year, you will see content about taking care of yourself over the Holidays and building confidence for a successful 2018.
Sometimes, plans work out. And other times going off plan is what works best. So make plans, and stray from plans, and keep moving forward!
My newsletters might not always have a theme, but you’ll notice them from time to time! Do you have suggestions for a theme that you would like to see? Comment and let me know – I would love to hear it!
